If you are looking to report questionable, or suspicious, activity related to mortgage-financing, such as fraud, misrepresentation, or irregularities in loan applications, here are the steps you can take:
If you are aware of any mortgage-financing improprieties, relating to us, and/or other borrowers, you may reach out to us to inform of any suspicious activity at Compliance@RebeloMortgages.com.
If you are a borrower, reach out to your mortgage lender, or servicer, to inform them of any suspicious activity. They may have a dedicated department to handle such issues.
Some states have their own agencies that deal with mortgage-financing fraud, or questionable activity. For example, many states have mortgage regulatory boards, or consumer protection offices, where you can report such issues.
The Financial Crimes Enforcement Network (FinCEN) has a hotline for reporting suspicious activity related to mortgage fraud. They can investigate activities that seem suspicious at a national level.
If you are an insider, or employee, who has knowledge of questionable activity, there are often Whistleblower programs available at both the federal, and state, levels to protect you, and ensure that the issue is investigated.
Misrepresentation of income or assets
False statements on loan applications
Falsifying property appraisals
Undisclosed fees or terms
Predatory lending practices
Make sure to gather as much evidence as possible when reporting questionable activity. This evidence may include documents, email correspondence, or any other relevant materials.
Let us know if you need assistance in contacting any of these agencies, or more information, on how to go about the process!
