Report Questionable Activity

If you are looking to report questionable, or suspicious, activity related to mortgage-financing, such as fraud, misrepresentation, or irregularities in loan applications, here are the steps you can take:

Contact Us

If you are aware of any mortgage-financing improprieties, relating to us, and/or other borrowers, you may reach out to us to inform of any suspicious activity at Compliance@RebeloMortgages.com.

Contact Your Lender Service Provider

If you are a borrower, reach out to your mortgage lender, or servicer, to inform them of any suspicious activity. They may have a dedicated department to handle such issues.

Report to Government Agencies

  • The Federal Trade Commission (FTC): You can file a complaint with the FTC through ReportFraud.FTC.gov if you believe you have been a victim of mortgage fraud, or any questionable activity.
  • The Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD): HUD oversee the Federal Housing Administration (FHA), and other housing programs. You can file a complaint with HUD for housing discrimination, or other mortgage-related issues, by visiting HUD.gov.
  • The Consumer Financial Protection Bureau (CFPB): The CFPB allows you to file a complaint about mortgages directly through their website at ConsumerFinance.gov/Complaint.
  • FBI’s Internet Crime Complaint Center (IC3): If you suspect mortgage fraud, you can file a complaint with the FBI’s IC3 at IC3.gov.

State Agencies

Some states have their own agencies that deal with mortgage-financing fraud, or questionable activity. For example, many states have mortgage regulatory boards, or consumer protection offices, where you can report such issues.

National Mortgage Fraud Hotline

The Financial Crimes Enforcement Network (FinCEN) has a hotline for reporting suspicious activity related to mortgage fraud. They can investigate activities that seem suspicious at a national level.

Whistleblower Programs

If you are an insider, or employee, who has knowledge of questionable activity, there are often Whistleblower programs available at both the federal, and state, levels to protect you, and ensure that the issue is investigated.

Key Points of Mortgage Fraud/Questionable Activity:

  • Misrepresentation of income or assets

  • False statements on loan applications

  • Falsifying property appraisals

  • Undisclosed fees or terms

  • Predatory lending practices

  • Non-disclosure of loan modifications or changes
  • Mortgage scams targeting consumers

Make sure to gather as much evidence as possible when reporting questionable activity. This evidence may include documents, email correspondence, or any other relevant materials.

Let us know if you need assistance in contacting any of these agencies, or more information, on how to go about the process!
